The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has announced a major fundraising effort to endow professorships honoring two former department chairs, Dr. James Hayward and Dr. Chalmers Lyons.
The $3 million fundraising campaign will enable the School of Dentistry to create the James R. Hayward Professorship and the Chalmers J. Lyons Collegiate Professorship in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Eight oral surgeons who graduated from the School of Dentistry played major roles to help initiate fundraising for the James Hayward Endowed Professorships in Oral Surgery.
Five benefactors - Drs. Gil Small, Ole Jensen, Norman Schuen, Bruce Trefz, and Rick Scott - recall learning their specialty under Dr. Hayward's tutelage and offer commentary.
